Terms & Conditions
Last updated: July 3, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using BillSplit Calcs (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Description of the service
BillSplit Calcs is a free calculation tool that helps groups divide shared expenses. It calculates balances and suggested settlements based on the information you enter. The Service does not process payments, hold funds, transfer money between users, or connect to any bank account or payment provider — it is a calculator, not a financial or payment service.
3. No financial advice
Nothing on BillSplit Calcs constitutes financial, tax, or legal advice. Split suggestions are mathematical outputs based on the numbers and split rules you provide — you are responsible for deciding how your group actually settles up.
4. Your responsibilities
You're responsible for the accuracy of the names, amounts, and split rules you enter. Because all data is stored locally in your browser or encoded in links you choose to share, you're also responsible for keeping your own device and any share links reasonably secure.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to violate any applicable law, to attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure, or to misuse the sharing features to distribute harmful or unlawful content.
6. Intellectual property
The BillSplit Calcs name, logo, design, and underlying code are the property of BillSplit Calcs unless otherwise noted. You may use the Service for your own personal or group expense-splitting purposes; you may not copy, resell, or redistribute the Service itself without permission.
7. Third-party links and services
The Service may link out to third-party platforms (for example, when you use a "Share via WhatsApp" or "Share via Email" option) and loads fonts from Google Fonts. We aren't responsible for the content, availability, or privacy practices of those third parties.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. While we aim for correct calculations, you should always double-check totals before settling up, especially for large amounts.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BillSplit Calcs and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including disputes between members of your group over a calculated split — arising from your use of the Service.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by generally applicable consumer-protection and contract law principles, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, to the extent enforceable in your jurisdiction.
